Katherine Boller

Editorial Director for Art and Architecture

I am the editorial director of art and architecture at Yale University Press. I also commission and acquire books in the areas of art, architecture, design, and fashion. I am always interested in projects that showcase new methodologies, and I look for books that are simultaneously accessible and rigorous. I acquire broadly, from pre-modern to contemporary topics; some of the topics that are of perennial interest to me include the relationship between art and politics, the role of women artists and architects, and projects that illuminate our understanding of global modernism. Recent highlights include Fabio Barry’s Painting in Stone, named Apollo Magazine’s 2021 Book of the Year; Andy Grundberg’s How Photography Became Contemporary Art; Sarah Roberts and Katy Siegel’s masterful catalogue Joan Mitchell, co-published with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the writer and minimalist sculptor Anne Truitt’s Yield: The Journal of an Artist.
