Paul Kennedy is J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History and Director of International Security Studies at Yale University. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Brady-Johnson Program in Grand Strategy and coordinates the ISS programs funded by the Smith Richardson Foundation. Kennedy is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2000 he was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Kennedy regularly writes for the New York Times, the Atlantic, and numerous other newspapers and magazines. He writes a monthly column on current global issues that is distributed worldwide by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate. He is the author of nineteen books and is best known for his 1987 work, The Rise and Fall of Great Powers. His latest book was Engineers of Victory: The Problem Solvers Who Turned the Tide in the Second World War (Random House, 2013).

Ian Marshall was a Fellow of the American Society of Marine Arts and Past President of the Society. He was the author of five books of paintings, Armored Ships, Ironclads, Passage East, Flying Boats, and Cruisers and La Guerre de Course. His work was part of the permanent collections of many international institutions including the US Naval War College, the Royal Navy Museum, Lloyds of London, and the Royal Netherlands Navy Museum.
