Yale University is committed to protecting your privacy.

In addition, unless you take steps to browse the Internet anonymously, or opt-out, Yale University and the Press, like most institutions and organizations on the Internet, track web browsing patterns to inform understanding of how sites are being used. 

We use technology services, such as Google Analytics, to help us analyze how users use our sites (For more information, see Yale’s full privacy policy). And we use other technology services to help us better understand our users’ experience (e.g., how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Any third parties we use to collect such information which may include a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only). Such information is stored on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile and our technology service providers are contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

This Data Protection Statement (“Statement”) describes how Yale University Press (“YUP”) collects and uses the personal information you provide to us and the choices you have regarding our use of your information and how you can access and update this information. YUP is committed to protecting and respecting the security, integrity, and privacy of personal data collected or processed from our customers and users in the operation of our services. By submitting your information to YUP you consent to the practices described in this statement. If you are less than 18 years old, then you must obtain the consent of your parent or legal guardian prior to submitting any personal information.

How do we collect information?

YUP may collect personal information from you in the following ways:

How long will your data be stored for?

Personal information will not be kept longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

If you have opted-in or signed up to any of our web services, information newsletters, or marketing newsletters, we will retain your data until you unsubscribe.
